Tram B will be suspended between Quinconces and Peixotto stations from 21:15 on Wednesday 14 December due to the World Cup semi-final. A special security device has also been introduced by the prefecture.
It’s an entire city going into game mode. France and Morocco meet tonight at 20:00 in the semi-finals of the World Cup. And regardless of the outcome, the authorities already expect the party to continue in the streets.
As a result, public transport will be disrupted this Wednesday evening in Bordeaux Métropole. The celebrations should focus on the Victory district, but tram B will be interrupted over a larger area. From 21.15, i.e. 1 hour and 15 minutes after kick-off, tram B will not pass between Quinconces in Bordeaux and Peixotto in Talence.
On the bus side, five lines will be disrupted on the Transport Bordeaux Métropole network. Rerouting will be in place from 21:25 on lines 1, 5, 11, 15 and 20. Detailed information on deviations and real-time information is communicated on TBM’s website and application as well as on TBM Twitter account.
A special safety device has also been put in place, it has been reinforced compared to the quarter-final. 180 police and gendarmes are deployed around the Place de la Victoire, and will deal exclusively with people partying in the street. Firefighters are also prepositioned on the ground with suitable vehicles to intervene.
At the end of the match, traffic will be blocked, announced the prefect of New Aquitaine and Gironde, Fabienne Buccio. Six municipal police officers will be there to watch over it.
“We know that there is an outburst of joy in these moments, joy must be able to break out in a healthy way”, recalled the prefect Fabienne Buccio. This “semi-final” device can be adapted as the situation develops.
