Leslyn Lewis campaign manager to help Alberta premier in 2023

The man who managed Leslyn Lewis’ campaign in her two consecutive attempts to become leader of the Conservative Party of Canada will help Alberta Premier Danielle Smith bid to win the 2023 provincial election.

Steve Outhouse confirms he will be campaign manager for Ms. Smith and for the United Conservative Party when Albertans go to the polls next spring.

Mr. Outhouse is known in conservative circles.

He notably campaigned for Ms Lewis during the federal Conservative leadership race this year, which was won handily by Pierre Poilievre.

Ms. Lewis is a rural Ontario MP who enjoyed support from the party’s social conservative base in her 2020 and 2022 leadership races.

In the next election, Danielle Smith will face a former Premier of Alberta, the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP), Rachel Notley.

After taking over the leadership of the United Conservative Party following the resignation of Jason Kenney, Ms Smith has vowed to push back against Ottawa, starting with its controversial law on sovereignty of the province.

Provincial elections are scheduled for 29 May 2023.
